Well folks, it's officially the countdown to Halloween. Maybe it's our old building possibly having a few extra tenants, but we can't help but get into the spooky spirit around here. We love the decorations, the tricks AND the treats, and of course - the costumes!
Halloween is just a few days away, but it's never too late to throw a look together. And in the mountains, ghouls and goblins aren't the only thing to worry about on All Hallows' Eve. With chilly nighttime temps and occasionally a few flakes, residents know that costumes must include the option to layer for warmth. We've put together some last-minute costume ideas to join the fun.
Naturally, the anticipation of snow helps get the creative juices flowing. Adding ears to just about anything is the easiest way to transform, and we like that this feels like a local spin. Layer our Truckee is Always a Good Idea sweatshirt with your go-to snow boots and rabbit accessories and you're ready to hop to it.
You know how we feel about our rockstar aspirations, so we'll take any chance to smudge our eyeliner and pile on the leather. This one isn't too far of a stretch from everyday wear if you're not especially enthusiastic about dressing up. One of our favorite MadeWorn tees, this Slayer number, is available in-store along with rocker-ready leather jewelry from Wakan Regalia.
The lumberjack flannel is already in the daily rotation for most of us, so this one just needs a few extra accessories. For safety's sake, we suggest a faux-axe and you'll need a set of suspenders to complete the look. If you have a four-legged friend, they can get in the spirit too as your sidekick Babe the Blue Ox. You'll also want your beard prepped and ready. We've got your flannel and grooming kit here in-store.
The best part of Halloween is the kids getting dressed up to go Trick-or-Treating, so we didn't forget the little ones either. Whether it snows on Halloween this year or not, this costume is fun and furry. Our Tahoe U Original tee is perfect for the future Yeti on the ski hill, paired with accessories.
Famous fictional characters are also a great source of inspiration. Inspired by our tusk magnifying glass from our gifts department, we decided Sherlock Holmes would be a great way to get use of our wooly layers. We've just stocked up on coats for winter, so the timing couldn't be better! Don't forget to grab your notebook for any clues you may pick up out in the field. No surgeons general warning here, but we suggest a pretend-pipe for PG audiences.
And if you're feline a little frisky, you know we always love an animal print! This spotted cashmere cardigan is one of our favorite pieces we carry, so just add whiskers. We're also not opposed to mixing species and prints. The entire animal kingdom is fair game.
Technically this isn't a costume, but we're not above poking a little fun of ourselves to get in the holiday spirit! A little satire goes a long way to pull off a good costume. Our Bourbon and Bad Decisions tee captures the essence of weekend life around here. Not only is the Subaru the vehicle of choice, nothing says 'local' more than a slam on the horn and a "DON'T STOP" yell for added theatrical commitment.
Now you have no excuse to skip out on the festivities this weekend. We suggest checking out Amazon, the thrift store, or even get crafty for your accessories, and call us here at the store for availability on our items. We hope to see you around the store, costumes HIGHLY encouraged, to check out our decor and pick up any last minute pieces. Happy Halloween!
