Happening this weekend

Tahoe University Weekend Warriors Happening Around the Lake 1/19-21

Winter is in full swing with a fresh batch of snow this morning and events going on in Truckee and around the lake. We say there are no bad days here, but let's be real, the weekend is what we live for.

We put together a few suggestions for the upcoming weekend so you can make the most of it.

The obvious choice is to hit the slopes. We've been patiently waiting for some fresh snow and our snow dance seems to have paid off. Squaw got 10" up top with a possibility for more this evening. Expect some clear skies through the weekend.

Dog Bowling

If you prefer to get out of the cold for a good cause, the National Bowling Stadium in Reno will be hosting their annual Pins for Paws fundraiser on Saturday. The event raises funds for the Canine Rehabilitation Center and Sanctuary. Bowling and dogs? Just a few of our favorite things. (Disclaimer - the dogs don't actually bowl...)

For an aprés treat that everyone in your group will enjoy, Kings Beach is hosting S'More Saturdays. Enjoy this classic dessert while taking in lake views, and head to nearby businesses for special deals, treats and activities. And don't worry, heaters will be provided.

The second annual Women's March will be holding a sister march in Reno this Saturday. Last year, roughly three million people worldwide participated in marches to show solidarity for women advocating for their rights. As a female-owned business, this is a cause we can get behind.

For the aspiring mixologist, The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe is offering an Art of Mixology class on Sunday afternoon. Learn the tricks of the trade to help take your hosting abilities to the next level. The $60 class will provide ingredients for three unique cocktail and appetizer pairings. Make sure to book 24-hours in advance.

Last but not least, we'd be remiss if we didn't get in a shameless plug. A pit-stop at the store is always a great addition to your weekend plans. Pick up some new Tahoe U original tees, a few gifts for upcoming birthdays, get your fortune read by Zoltar, or simply hang out. We may be biased but our couches are quite comfy.
