Valentine's Day Self-Love

Aaaahhh… Valentine’s Day, the universally celebrated, sometimes dreaded holiday of love. The pressure of the over-commercialized day may cause some of us to look towards the 14th with feelings of disdain, so why not bring some levity to the holiday with some amazing self-love time and some fun, cheeky fashion?

I start each day with some quiet time to myself; sitting with my coffee, planning out the day ahead. On Valentine's Day, if I’m so lucky as to have a partner in my world, I take a few moments to think about them and what I may be able to do to make their day more fun and exciting. Surprises are key... hide love notes around the house or start the day with a rose petal ‘shower’ in bed – have fun with it!

Going on a lunch date? Keep things classic and fun with this beautiful, embroidered red lips oxford shirt from Scotch & Soda. Pair the oxford with super soft, ultra comfortable colored chinos from Raven Denim. The fit of these pants is so flattering and the fabric has such a beautiful sheen; you can find these chinos in a handful of gorgeous colors at Tahoe University.

Headed out on the town for an evening with your love? I find it necessary to slow down and really enjoy the process of getting myself dolled up. Start with a beautiful first layer like Eberjey’s lace bralette and flirty boy shorts, and top it off with a soft wispy robe. Take the time to pick your accessories – sometimes it's even fun to let the accessories decide what the outfit will be. I'm loving stackable rings right now. Because they come in a variety of sizes and styles, have an awesome price point (between $21-$30), and can be worn on any and all fingers, these rings from The Faint Hearted are a guaranteed win.

Now, for the Date Outfit. This can be tricky in the Sierra – we never know what sort of weather we will be dealing with, so it’s always best to layer. I love this look that started with the ultra comfort and warmth of high-waisted sweater leggings. Sticking with the classic feel, I opted for a super soft oxford (with a little hand embroidered surprise on the neck band). The look is topped off with perhaps THE MOST beautiful blazer by Zadig & Voltaire that I have ever laid eyes on. The details on this blazer, from the gorgeous lining to the gold, rhinestone skull lapel pin, really make it a stand out piece. Every outfit should be highlighted by an amazing pair of shoes, and these handmade boots by Calleen Cordero just might steal the show. Let’s not forget the accessories and this outfit doesn't need much; just a little onyx and diamond bracelet finish off the look beautifully.

SO, whether you are celebrating self love, the love you share with another or just love in general… have fun, dress up and spread the love!
